J.T. Roselle Lighting began the way most real businesses do: with a leap of faith, a small loan, and a whole lot of grit.

Then came the moment that changed everything. After an introduction to Structure Tone, the firm’s leadership asked if JTR could supply lighting directly for one of their major Manhattan projects. A full set of architectural and lighting plans soon followed. Jim had never worked from blueprints at that scale before, so he spent the weekend teaching himself how to read the drawings, building the takeoff, and assembling the full bill of materials. That first job turned into a long-term relationship—and the foundation for decades of work across New York City.

Major business growth within the NYC market
Key Projects include: Foley Square Courthouse/ Thurgood Marshall US Courthouse, Ernst & Young, 5 Times Square, Sony Corporation World Headquarters, One NY Plaza, Goldman Sachs, Prudential Securities, IBM Corporate headquarters, JP Morgan Chase Weehawken, Credit Suisse, Armonk office expansion.

Established JDC Power, JDC Control systems, & JDC technical services
2004- JDC Lighting Sold

Non compete for lighting, traveled the country and built JDC Power
The lighting segment of the business relaunched as J.T. Roselle Lighting
Over the years, lighting changed. Projects got bigger. Controls got smarter. Deadlines got tighter. And the business got more intricate.
But the way JTR works never wavered:
And that’s why our relationships last. It’s why teams bring us in when the job can’t afford surprises. And it’s why so many of our people have been here 10, 15, 20, even 30+ years.
Sure, speed is great, but certainty is better.
We believe in modern tools, online takeoffs, and advanced lighting and controls. We also believe in printing plans when it matters, studying them deeply, and catching issues before they become expensive problems in the field.
JTR is the kind of partner that feels like a “sturdy handshake” on a complicated job: experienced people, steady leadership, and a team that stays with you until it’s right.
